Hymn of Promise

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter there's a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

There's a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there's a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me. From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. ~~ words & music by Natalie Sleeth, 1986 United Methodist Hymnal

A great story!

No pics today! Just a really funny story a member of Curves told me she read about! You may have already seen this story but I just thought it was so funny and wanted to share it.
An elderly lady was doing her grocery shopping and when she came out of the store and went to her car she saw 4 men getting into her car. She dropped her groceries and pulled out her pistol and screamed at them to get away from the car! They all scattered! She was shaking so badly over the situation that when she got in she couldn't get her key to fit in the ignition and that's when she noticed a football and some beer in the car! Yep! You got it! It wasn't her car! She found her car and proceeded to the closest police station to tell them what had happened! The officer couldn't stop laughing hysterically! The 4 men the elderly lady had chased away from their own car were also there giving their report about some crazy old lady with gray hair and a house dress pointing a gun at them and stealing their car! No charges were filed in this case but...the author of the news item mentioned that if you're going to have a senior moment I guess this lady made it a memorable one! Glad I don't carry a gun!

  1. Taking a break from packing - THis is so funny! reminds me of the time when I had a mini-van I was going garage saling and ended up in someone elses van!!! Talk about embarressing!!

  2. If I carried a gun this could be me! My kids tell their dad not to bother with buying a nice car--I'll get in anything white. I once got in a car with a strange man at church!! Don't know who was more suprised, him or me :) Happy weekend--off to a bridal shower!

  3. Now, that is funny! Glad she didn't pull the trigger! Thanks for the laughs Lauralu! laurie

  4. OK, Lauralu, I've got to tell you that my mother told me that story a while back and told me that she was that woman! I have told her that she is kidding me, and she denies it...she insists it was her. I am not sure about it, but it could be her???!!! Linda

  5. Oh my goodness, I am still cracking up!!!! What a funny story. I was waiting for my Mom one time and I watched her come out of the doctors and hop into the car next to mine.. the lady behind the wheel looked just as shocked as my Mom.. You know you do get to a point where all of these cars look the same... Kind of like the music.. boy am I showing my age.. Love, Cindy

  6. Lauralu, you have Chantilly, too? I just love it - it's pretty, but not too fussy. When I got mine, they were doing free monogramming (40 years ago!) so I have an M on all mine. However, sad story, we lost a dinner fork and I had to replace it without monogramming - it is sooooo expensive!!! Linda

  7. Oh so funny, Laura Lu! I hope I never do that cause I have been having senior moments lately, LOL!...Christine

  8. Loved the story. It would remind me so something I could do if I carried a pistol. Remind me to never buy one.

Yep, I am a gardener. Do you remember me from RMS? You should check out my old post there. I am doxieluvr. I am dying to get outside.
    Hugs, Terrie

  9. ROFLMBO....Sometimes I'm grateful I don't carry a gun! hehehe ~Athella

  10. I have read that one before but it still makes me laugh hysterically!!!! WHAT a senior moment!!!!

  11. Laura Lu, you are so sweet and one of my very favorites. You always have something kind and uplifting to say, not to mention your tremendous talent in the decorating area :) I have gotten much support today from my 13 Followers!! lol and for that I am so very thankful!! I also feel that I am connecting with people all over, and I really start to feel like I KNOW them. I pray for them, and laugh with them, I think it is great!! I will keep on blogging on.....til someone tells me to Shut up". Hope you have a great day!

    Lou Cinda :)

  12. Hey Girlfriend...

Just read your note...you always brighten my day with your visits!!! Ohhh no...so sorry to hear that your son is sick, I'm saying a prayer for him, my friend! And praying for the rest of you too...no passing the flu!!! Darlin', you're just the sweetest to be thinking of me and my little Tea Rose bedroom! You know that I just adored that cute little bunny tassel...you're so sweet!!!

Thank the Lord that the sun came out today! It snowed last night AGAIN...but the sun has already melted it. We are supposed to get snow AGAIN this weekend...will Spring ever get here?

    Love and prayers,

P.S I can understand how messy creating is without a crafting room...:(

  15. That story is just hilarious. I don't carry a gun, but I do think I have a senior moment now and then. I so can relate to the poor little lady. I drive a white accord that half the rest of the world drives and I always have to look at the license plate to make sure it is my car, I don't want someone else to shoot me. lol Thanks for stopping by and your sweet comments about my ant. clocks. I do enjoy them all and they are really sweet reminders of my mom. Hugs, Marty
