Hymn of Promise

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter there's a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

There's a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there's a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me. From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. ~~ words & music by Natalie Sleeth, 1986 United Methodist Hymnal

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

Now I know to many of you out there this is nothing! But to us Memphians this only happens once or twice a year, if at all! And we had no warning! I got up this morning, as usual, to get everybody up for school and work. At first I thought it was really foggy outside, until I got closer to the window and saw it was snowing like crazy! I was quite flabbergasted! Usually, we'd have every weather man out in full force warning us of the bad weather coming at us and to be prepared and tell us how to drive and what to get at the grocery store! The kids wouldn't do homework because they knew for sure they wouldn't be going to school and then of course nothing would happen! Well, they sure missed this one! But it was so pretty! Now it's raining and supposed to sleet and maybe more snow!

View this morning from my front door!

Poor little frog!
Love her new hat!

The view from our breezeway!
And Molly loved it!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately. Family issues have taken precedence. I'll be back, I promise! Meanwhile, I'll miss you all! I'm still trying once in a while to check out your blogs but I may not leave a message. My heart's just not up to it. Someone tell me! Why does it all go so wrong when they grow up?! What happens to our sweet little babies?? God is right there with us I know! "My Trust is in you, Lord! You are my God! I am always in your care!"

  1. Great pictures. You did better than I did. I stood at the doorway and took pictures - to cold. If the temps drop in the 20's tonight, it could be like a skating rink in the morning.
Molly is such a pretty dog.
    Sent you an email.
    Take care.

  5. LauraLu!!! I have missed you!! Wasn't that a beautiful snow...now, I'm over it; let's move on to spring :) Molly looks like she had a wonderful time. Jessie turned up her nose and went to the bathroom in the garage! That lttle frog looks so funny! Garage sale time soon--can't wait to make a day of it!

  6. Such beautiful snow-y day pictures! I really like the photo of the frog and the top one of the lawn chairs with their frosting of glittery white! Very beautiful! Thanks for sharing these.

  7. Laura Lu- have so missed you. I think we are all slowing down a bit with the blogging- life keeps happening and something must give.

I can so empathize with you though I don't know exactly what you are dealing with. Both our boys are struggling in their life. I read through the old testament last month and so many references to the children's children serving and coming to the Lord- I am just holding on to those promises and praying like mad!

I will be remembering your heartaches as I lift mine up to our Father-

  10. Hello sweet friend...

I was just jumpin' with joy when I seen your note this morning, dear friend!!! It's been so long since we've visited! Darlin', I am sooo sorry that you have had some family problems! None of us are exempt when it comes to children...that's for certain! It's even more difficult as they grow older, when they were little I could give their little hiney a spankin'...it's much harder and more complicated when they are grown! My 3 daughters were all in an uproar with one another...last month. I kept getting phone calls about this one said this and that one said that! Sheesh!!! I finally told them that I was their mother and I loved each of them and I was NOT going to choose sides! They needed to all sit down and talk and work it out! Thank the Lord, that the situation has been cleared up! Sometimes you just want to knock their little precious heads together...don't you? Hehe! Anyway, please do cheer up, Lauralu...I know that the Lord has it all under control! Just step back, Darlin'...and let Him do His work! Yes...the Lord is sooo good to us...very gracious and longsuffering! Praise the Lord!!!

Well sweet lady, I have missed you terribly but do understand your absence! Please do come back to us soon...there is a big ol' hole in blogland without you filling it with your sweetness!!!

    Love you, Sweetie!

  11. Hi Girlfriend...

It was so sweet getting a note from you today! It just made my day, Sweetie! How is everything going for you, my sweet friend? I've been keeping you and your family in my prayers!

Ohhh...it's so nice that you're experiencing some nice weather! I hear ya, Girlfriend...it does the same thing here...you just never know...one day it can be sooo nice and the next day snowing! It's just that season! Well my friend, fill me in on what you've been up to lately! Are you working at Curves still? Have you been tackling any new projects? I always have several things in the works but never enough energy to go around! Hehe! Nevertheless, I do enjoy my "piddling" around the house and my small decorating projects! Well my dear, it was soooo nice to hear from your today! Please do take care!!!

    Love ya, Sweetie...

  12. So very good to get your note in my box today!! Have been thinking about you and actually praying that the Lord would make me a bit more like you with the blogging thing. I do so take much more time than I should with it!

The snow is almost all melted from the last storm but it sounds like Tuesday we expect more- I am so missing Spring- Went to NM last week for a funeral and everything was in it's glory!

I echo Chari- would love to know what you are up to these days friend!

We will be getting our building for our Aguilar ministry the first of April and it will keep us busy getting it cleaned and spruced up! God was so good in the way He provided this building and we are so looking forward to what He has in store for it!

Have to check on my bees tomorrow to see how they have fared for the winter before the next snow comes our way- Have been praying that God is keeping them all snug and healthy in their little hives!

    bee blessed
