Hymn of Promise

In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree; in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free! In the cold and snow of winter there's a spring that waits to be, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

There's a song in every silence, seeking word and melody; there's a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me. From the past will come the future; what it holds, a mystery, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

In our end is our beginning; in our time, infinity; in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity. In our death, a resurrection; at the last, a victory, unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see. ~~ words & music by Natalie Sleeth, 1986 United Methodist Hymnal

Tablescape Thursday!

I'm joining everyone else over at Susan's @ http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/ for Tablescape Thursday! Everyone is doing it so be sure and go over there and check out all the beautiful tables!!!
My sister was in town for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I was sick with a sinus infection some of that time, but as soon as I got well we made our traditional trip to Old Time Pottery! Yes, blogging is turning me into a dishaholic! I bought 6 of these plates! I loved them! They look so summery to me! They were only a $1.99 each! They're marked "Home Goods". I bought the green and white ginham napkins too! I already knew exactly what placemats I would use. A friend gave me these for my birthday one year! I think it looks like a picnic!

I originally had my white Southern Living At Home bowls on top of the plates but I decided I like just the plain plates...no charger, no salad or bowl...just the colorful plates! The little pitcher was my grandmothers. I just thought it looked good with the plates! The red pottery vase is from Southern Living At Home! And the fleurs are real! Do you see the little frog? Just a touch of whimsy!

The stemware I bought at Old Time Pottery last winter! The flatware is our Oneida we got when we married! We're a tad low on forks now! (25 years later!)

Thanks for stopping by! God Bless! Lauralu :)

  1. Laura, this table is just so "happy"! The colors just make me smile, and I love the mixture of patterns. You are so good at that. That's not something I can do - mix the stripes, the checks, the florals, and have it end up looking this great!Shoot, I want to go to Old Time Pottery now. Those plates are just so pretty. laurie

Darlin'...I'm still trying to catch up from our estate sale last weekend...I'm afraid that it really did me in. This fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue has gotten the best of me this week! Say a prayer for me, my friend! This is the first time I've even been to the computer for a couple of days. Sorry, I shouldn't complain...with a little rest I'll be fine!

Have a terrific Thursday, Sweetie! I'll talk with you later...

    Love ya,
    Chari

  28. Laura--I hope you will find this eventually--The reception was a the zoo and we had no power until 45 minutes before we got there and then only partial with generators! Fortunatley the bride never knew the drama going on during the day and the mother of the bride (EEEK) was able to remain calm! I just had to use that trust that we both know about--that it would be okay or we would be given the strength to handle it! Now we need to have lunch. I want to see your magazine cover!

  29. Hello friend! Thank you so much for coming by and saying hi! I am out under a tree in the garden taking it easy when I should be getting that breakfast nook of ours done!! I have been so wiped out from the last 4 or 5 weeks of stuff that just can't hardly see straight- If that ol fibromylgia stuff would just take a hike I might would have some lovely pictures of the room! We did get a contract on our house in NM after 2 years of being on the market- PTL!! Would you pray that all would go through ok- we are owner financing it and always are a little hesitant of if the buyer will be a responsibible one- it's almost like having a renter till you get your last payment!

So have you started your fan club yet after that great write up in the magazine!!!

  32. Mornin' Girlfriend...

Got a the coffee on? I would just love sitting at your pretty summery table for a cup this mornin'! Hehe!!! It's such a pleasure to be greeted by such a pretty summery table!!!

It was so nice to have you come by...loved reading the sweet note that you left for me! Glad you enjoyed all of my apothecary jar and cloches this week...although, I'm sure that you seen most of those before! They were an easy post since I've been busy trying to get ready for vacation. We're leaving Saturday and I think I'm finally ready! Hehe! I'm so slow...it takes me days to get things done! Sheeesh!!! My friend, asking a favor...please keep me in your prayers! This long car trip is going to be really hard on me unless the Lord intervenes...I'm so excited to get to see all my girls and grandkids but I'm really dreading the long trip. We're going to split the driving up into two days...we'll stay overnight in a motel half way there. I sure will miss you...we'll have some catching up to do when I get home!

    Love ya Sweetie,
    Chari

  37. Lauralu, you are so right, my new soup tureen would look fabulous with this tablescape. If you lived close by I would let you borrow it sometime. The fruit on your gorgeous plates have the exact same color as the fruit on the tureen. It just got here by the UPS truck and I just opened it up. What a beauty. I am so thrilled and feel really spoiled. Hugs, Marty
